Los Angeles native Donlee Yang Brussel has been writing and directing since he was a teenager.
In 2002, he won 1st Place in the Friars Charitable Foundation's Student Screenwriting Awards for his first screenplay, "Barely Legal." In 2003, he was accepted into the Scriptwriters Network High School Fellowship. In 2005, he was accepted into the Telluride Film Festival Student Symposium.
His first film, "Intoxicated Demons," a darkly comedic short shot in Los Angeles, screened at fifteen festivals, winning Best Cinematography at Seattle's True Independent Film Festival, Best Score at Microcinema Fest, and a nomination for Best Screenplay at AOF Fest.
His second film, "Cabbie," a mockumentary shot in Chicago, has screened at fourteen festivals, winning Best Short Film at the Asheville Film Festival, Most Inspirational Film at Seattle's True Independent Film Festival, and nominations for Best Short Film at the Santa Clarita Valley Film Festival, Best Mockumentary at the Lakedance Film Festival, and Best Documentary Short Film at the San Joaquin Film Festival.
In addition, he has directed several TV commercials that have aired on broadcast and cable. Most recently, Donlee directed a music video for Jendor's "Pave the Way," which is currently airing on MTV2 and mtvU.
